Changing circumstances mean we have to sell our Onyx. She is quick and easy to set up allowing us to relax soon after arriving at our campsite; pack up is just as easy. When at home she is kept undercover.
The camper tracks well behind our tow vehicle with a DO35 tow hitch and the chassis and the suspension system are designed for extreme off-road conditions with a fully independent trailing arm suspension system (rated to 2000kg), fully electric 12" inch drum brake set-up and 17” alloy wheels to match 100/200 series Toyota Landcruiser.
Cooking: Stainless Steel swing away 2 burner stove, large drawer kitchen and extra bench/prep space lit by a large LED touch light mounted on the back of the kitchen door. A 2-drawer slide out pantry and 60L Engel fridge complete the kitchen.
The front storage box can be accessed from both sides of the camper and is fitted with 12V and 240V outlets. With the slide out fridge on the kitchen side and on the other side a slide shelf, suitable for a barbeque or portapoti has been fitted.
At the front of the camper there is lockable storage for 3 Jerry cans and two 9kg gas bottles. A storage rack is mounted on top.
Water: a 120 litre stainless steel, baffled water tank, Truma Hot Water system and an electric pump supplies the kitchen and shower. A hand pump at the front of the camper for hand washing before dinner or water access while on the road.
Inside: The bed is a full size innerspring queen mattress on a slatted bed base with a 20 litre bedhead storage compartment. Each side of the bed are two personal LED stork lights and two USB ports. At the end of the bed are 240V, 12V and USB charging outlets and step light. The bed lifts up on gas struts to reveal spacious storage and access to the battery boxes.
It is fitted with a full 240V compatible system and two 110 A/H AGM deep cycle batteries and Redarc Battery management System, which monitors and charges your batteries, and regulates solar input. An external lockable box houses a the switched fuse box, power switches the battery management display screen.
It has dynaproofed roof, to 14.9oz, and walls to, 10.9oz, and Midge and Mosquito proof mesh screens on all doors and windows. Also a 2.4m annex with front end and side walls. The floor sits off the ground so no need to worry about water, dirt and other creepy crawlies getting in and the hard wearing vinyl floor is easy to clean. The solar blanket adds extra protection from heat and cold.
